Stepwise Care is a podiatry-led not-for-profit working in Newham to make good health care easier to reach. We catch problems early, explain them clearly, and help people get the right support at the right time — so small things stay small.
The name says it: care that builds in stages, where each step makes the next one easier. Most health problems are far kinder to deal with near the start — so that's where we put our effort.
Helping people and primary care teams know what to look for, before a problem becomes urgent.
Simple, non-invasive checks — like our community circulation screening — that pick up warning signs sooner.
Clear, practical guidance for patients and the people who care for them every day.
Pointing people toward the right care at the right moment — not too late, not lost in the system.
Each programme sits on one of those steps — meeting people where they already are, through the places and partners they already trust.
An accessible Toe-Brachial Pressure Index (TBPI) screening service for Newham. A Doppler probe and blood pressure cuffs measure the circulation in your feet, record your blood pressure, and can flag an irregular heartbeat from the waveform. Together they target three of the borough's biggest risks: high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke. By appointment at Ithaca House.
Book a screening →Putting earlier action within reach — from diabetic foot assessment training for clinical and care staff to foot care talks in care homes and community settings. Built around what people see day to day, not textbook theory.
Arrange a session →We partner with Age UK to reach older residents who too often fall through the gaps — bringing checks, information and a friendly point of contact to the places they already know and trust.
Get in touch →Newham is one of London's most diverse boroughs — and one of its most unequal, with high levels of poverty and some of the poorest healthy-life-expectancy figures in the city. Behind those numbers are real people, families and aspirations. Stepwise Care is a podiatry-led CIC, founded by a clinician born, raised and still working here, set up to narrow that gap — one check and one conversation at a time.
To improve healthcare access, level of care provision and outcomes by adopting a stepwise approach which places a strong emphasis on awareness, early detection, education, and appropriate and timely management.
